Bolivian authorities have taken into custody a former government minister who is being investigated for suspected corruption in a judicial effort designed to reveal potential irregularities linked to his tenure in office.
The arrest was carried out by police officers following a court order issued by Bolivia’s judicial authorities. The former official has been placed at the disposal of the competent authorities, who will continue legal proceedings to determine his judicial status as the investigation moves forward.
According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the case involves alleged irregularities in the management of public funds and government contracts. Investigators are seeking to determine whether any criminal offenses were committed in connection with the handling of public resources or the awarding of contracts for goods and services during his tenure.
The case is part of a broader series of investigations launched by Bolivian authorities into former members of previous administrations. Prosecutors say the inquiries are intended to establish individual responsibility based on the evidence collected throughout the investigation.
The former minister’s legal team has denied the allegations, maintaining that their client will cooperate with the judicial process while exercising his right to due process. Meanwhile, authorities said the investigation will continue as additional evidence is gathered before the courts make a final determination regarding the case.
